Welcome Back...

14th Sep 2021

Hello Parents and Guardians,

Here we are in the middle of September and I am happy to report that everything is going well. The new Junior Infants are settling in fine. They are  getting familiar with their new teacher, the big classroom, the new environment and they certainly seem very happy to me as I meet them in the classrooms and in the yard. The Senior Infants are enjoying the change from Junior Infants and First Class are finding the extra hour a bit of a challenge but as experience has taught me they quickly get used to it. Of course we are still living with the Corona Virus unfortunately. This year is a little different as it is more common for children to get the virus than it is for adults as we are all vaccinated. Children are not vaccinated. We have all procedures set in motion to protect everyone from the virus but is is very contagious and we have a challenge to face. This brings me to a serious matter of whether I send my child to school or not if they are feeling unwell. Teachers get lots of messages on Do-Jo regarding whether a parent should send their child to school. If your child is unwell and has any of the symptoms shown on the advice sheet from the HSE (see below)  THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESION IS ...you keep your child at home until they are feeling better. If they continue to feel unwell you ring your GP and seek advice.   Your child is in a class with  lots of other children and the teacher. It is much safer for all involved if you keep your child at home if you have any doubts about the state of their health. Better to be safe than sorry.
